We are delighted to have our Autism Class as part of the school community here at Snugboro N.S. Our bright and welcoming classroom provides a supportive environment where children can learn, play, communicate and develop at their own pace, while also being very much a part of the wider life of our school.

Under the guidance of Mrs Feeney, with the wonderful support of our SNAs Clara, Cathy and Ger, the children have been busy settling into their classroom, getting to know their daily routines and becoming comfortable in their new surroundings. Each day brings opportunities to build confidence, independence and new skills through activities tailored to the children's individual strengths and needs.

Our classroom has been designed with learning through play, movement and exploration in mind. The children have been enjoying a wide range of activities, from building and construction, books and stories, creative activities and imaginative play to movement and sensory experiences. There are lots of opportunities to make choices, explore interests and enjoy learning in a way that is meaningful andengaging.

A particularly important feature of our classroom is the opportunity for children to take time and space when they need it. Our calm and sensory areas, along with a range of seating, movement and sensory equipment, provide different ways for pupils to regulate, relax, refocus and prepare for learning. As you can see from our
photos, there is plenty of room for both active exploration and quieter moments.
 

We are also very fortunate to have our own dedicated playground in the school courtyard. This gives the children a safe and familiar outdoor space where they can enjoy fresh air, movement and active play throughout the school day. It has already become a firm favourite, with lots of fun being had outdoors!
An important part of our approach is helping every child to feel happy, secure and
included in school life. Alongside time in their own classroom, there are opportunities to connect, learn and play with pupils and staff throughout Snugboro N.S., supporting friendships and a strong sense of belonging within our school community.
 

It has been wonderful to see the children becoming more familiar, comfortable and
confident with each passing day. We are looking forward to a fantastic year ahead, filled with learning, laughter, play, new experiences and plenty of proud moments along the way!
